About the Golf Course

About the Golf Course

Perched dramatically atop the cliffs of Aberdeenshire, Stonehaven Golf Club is a "hidden gem" of Scottish golf, celebrated for its jaw-dropping views of the North Sea and its uniquely rugged character. Founded in 1888, the club offers a friendly, traditional atmosphere with a course that prioritizes spectacular scenery and tactical play over sheer length.

Course Description & Key Features The Layout: A par 66 course measuring 5,103 yards, it features seven challenging par 3s and a mix of cliffside and parkland-style holes. Scenic Vistas: Many holes run directly alongside the cliff edge, offering views of the North Sea, Stonehaven Bay, and the historic Dunnottar Castle to the south. "The Gully" (Holes 13 & 15): The course straddles the Highland Fault Line. Players must hit forced carries over a deep ravine known as "The Gully" on the 13th and 15th holes, a feat that literally crosses from the Lowlands into the Highlands. Hitler's Bunker: Between the 1st and 2nd fairways lies a crater formed by a German bomb dropped during WWII in 1940. It remains in play today as a unique, historical hazard. Terrain & Conditions: The course is physically demanding and hilly, with many blind shots and sloping fairways. Because of its steep nature, no motorized buggies are available; only push carts are permitted
