The Furnas Golf Course is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of São Miguel, one of the Azores islands, and only 25 min. drive from Ponta Delgada. The golf course is close to the beautiful Furnas Lake, one of the largest and most attractive lakes on the island, famous for its hot springs. This glorious view also takes in the stunning Cedars valley, which is famous for its tropical vegetation, and mineral water: all place names clearly demonstrating the volcanic origins of these islands, which offer the ideal climate for playing golf all the year round.

Furnas Golf Course에 대해 더 알아보기

The original 9-hole golf course of Furnas, in Azores, was completed in 1936 to the design of MacKenzie Ross, who is probably best known for the Estoril Golf Course near Lisbon and for his work in restoring, from near ruin, the world famous Ailsa and Arran courses at Turnberry in Scotland.

Extended in 1992 under the supervision of the British golf course designers, Cameron Powell Associates, the full 18-hole golf course of Furnas is now a par 72. There is no doubt that MacKenzie Ross would be delighted to see that the new 9 holes are so in harmony with the spirit and style of the original golf course that it is becoming increasingly difficult to “spot the join.”
